NG’s family visit to Singapore 26-28 Dec 2009
May 23rd
Ng’s Sister had 5 entrance tickets to Singapore Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park and the validity is before 31 Dec 2009. Xiang Gong and I have postponed our trip to Taiwan to 29 Dec 2009 (planned to go on 25 Dec 2009) because of his family visit to Singapore 26-28 Dec 2009. They took flight to Singapore on 26 Dec 2009 morning. We picked them up from Changi airport and straight check in to apartment at Parc Oasis I rented for their 2 nights stay. 1st day, we went for Boxing Day shopping at Orchard and Bugis Junction. I had shopped for some long pants for my trip to Taiwan (winter season) and shoes.
In the next morning, we visited to Singapore Bird Park and afternoon had lunch at Jurong Point – Pu Tian restaurant.

High Definition
Dec 16th
I have recently acquired a high definition vision. It’s not your HD TV set but a HD glasses which I can bring around.
I started to notice my vision is getting bad when I have trouble to see the road sign from reasonable distance and can’t distinguish 8 6 9 from the presentation slide. Other than this no other impact to my daily activities.
We visit to several optical shops in Jurong Point and decide to buy from the shop give most discount. After try more than 50 pairs of glasses we decide to this half frame spectaculars
My HD vision
My left eye have 100 degree myopia and right eye 50 degree myopia and 50 degree astigmatism.
After I wear it, I feel like the whole world is now in High Definition mode, and when I look at the my normal TV it start to transform to HD TV. I did not realized in the past I was live in world is less HD.
This glasses is an early X’mas present from my dear Niang Zi, she not only turn my world into color but also allow my to see the world in HD. Thanks again and I’ll take good care of my HD Vision.
Resorts World Sentosa Universal Studios open in early 2010
Nov 23rd
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) Universal Studios Theme Park is going to open in January 2010
It is just a matter of months now until the grand opening of the Universal Studios theme park in Singapore, but that excitement was tempered somewhat when the much-awaited ticket prices were finally made public on Wednesday.
The world’s tallest pair of duelling rollercoasters, Battlestar Galactica, located in Universal Studios Singapore, will propel thrill-seekers on several inversions, a zero-g roll, a Cobra roll, corkscrews, vertical loops and near collisions mere inches apart.
Those who had been hoping for something more affordable would certainly have been baulking at the admission costs, because an outing to the famous attraction – South-east Asia’s first and only Universal Studios – will not come cheap.
A one-day Universal Studios Singapore weekend pass will cost $72 for adults, $52 for children and $36 for senior citizens. Visiting on weekdays will be slightly easier on the wallet – $66, $48 and $32 respectively.
Staying at one of the Sentosa integrated resort’s (IR) hotels is also going to set one back a fair sum. The rates for three hotels have since been made public – deluxe rooms at the Festive Hotel start at $400 a night, it’s $450 to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel and $500 at Hotel Michael. If Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) wants to realistically achieve its target of seeing up to 30,000 visitors at Universal Studios each day, there are no two ways about it: attracting the locals is their best hope. Application of Malaysia Passport in Singapore
Sep 6th
I just renew my Malaysia Passport in August in Malaysia High Commission of Singapore. This 2nd times I renew my Malaysian passport in Singapore. This time is easier compare to 5 years ago where I had to queue up to submit form and payment in the temporary high commission at Hill Street.
Before I proceed to renewal, I downloaded the Malaysia Passport Application Form IM42 from
www.imi.gov.my or http://www.malaysia.org.au/downloads.html
I planned my trip after I signed my appointment letter and reached there around 10am. And complete the submission around 10:45am. Collection was in afternoon 2:30pm onwards.
The procedure for Malaysia Passport Application in Malaysia High Commission in Singapore
Address : 301 Jervois Rd, Singapore 249077 Tel: 6732 8067
1. Application For Adult
(a) Form IM.42* to be duly completed. – Print 2 page in same sheet or obtain the form at the security post
(b) Three (3) recent passport sized colour photograph in blue background, size: 3.5cm. X 5cm. Polaroid photo is not acceptable. Proper attire is advised (No sleeveless). – Can be done at any photo kiosk mentioned you need blue background for Malaysia Passport
(c) Malaysia Identity Card (Original & Photocopy – A4 size). – Both side in single sheet
(d) Malaysia International / Restricted Passport.
(e) Singapore status: PR / Employment Pass / Work Permit / Student Pass / Long Term Pass (Original and photocopy). - Both side in single sheet
(f) Applicants need to submit personally.
Below are the sample of documents required for Malaysia Passport Application
Forms and Documents required for Malaysia Passport Application
Before you get in the premise you need to change pass at the Guard House, please don’t use Malaysia IC or Singapore IC as the ICs are required to apply Malaysia Passport. The queue number 1067 was issued after the officer review your documents and forms at Counter 11. After the number called, the officer at the counter will counter check the documents scan your finger print couple of time. Then proceed to payment counter to pay the fees. That time was S$126.
For driver, you can park your car along roadside of the landed property near by eg. Jervois Garden.
At collection, same thing you need to do to change pass at Guard House, but the number issue is the same as queue number, the guard in the waiting area will call the number to form the queue for collection.
After collection I noticed the expired date is extended 5 years from your old Malaysia Passport’s expired date. This was a bit surprise to me as my ex-colleague mentioned to me the expired date was 5 years from the application date. eg. old passport expired in 28 Dec 2009, new expired date is 28 Dec 2014. In the sense you don’t lose single day even if you renew it 3 months earlier.
After obtain the new passport the next logical thing to do is transfer the Singapore Re-Entry Permit for PR to new passport. 5 years ago I need to make a trip to ICA office in Lavendar to pay $50 to add new stamp to new Malaysia Passport. Now I can do this by E-services in ICA Website More >

Our ROM Solemnization at Labrador Park
Nov 1st
Yeah rite we have decided to settle down finally. We did not planed to ROM in Singapore until late September when we planed to move to Parc Oasis in Jurong. While we explored the date to ROM,suddenly realized 1st Nov is our 3rd years together. From then we start our plan for the ROM in Singapore, we later noticed ROM registry office did not opened on the date we wanted, we have the option to invite the solemnizer for solemnization outside ROM.
While searching for the ROM venue, we expert the place to have nice scenery, quiet, greenery and close to nature. Somehow Labrador park pop-up in my mind. All I can recalled from memory was the BBQ session with my colleagues in Sharp 10 years ago. The park is by the sea and opposite Sentosa Island. After I surf the National Parks website, and book the place immediately. At the end it turn out to be our perfect place for our ROM.
After decided the time and venue, we started to book for the solemnizer, filling our ROM, Wedding Bands, ROM dress and caterer. Initially we only intended to invite family and close friends for the ceremony, later we changed our mind 1 week before to invite friends and colleagues in Singapore as we know many of them may not able to come to our customary wedding dinner in Malaysia. The caterer was a big headache for us, inflexible to satisfy our requirement, slow in respond and the worst is denied the offer agreed previously. We decided to move on and deal with them later. ![]()
The big question mark for us was the whole ceremony process and decoration, we want to make it simply and unique. Balloons only appear in our mind 3 days before ROM. We have a brief meeting with Kok Pin and decided the whole decoration in 2 hours time. At the same time Venice’s friend Boon Soon gave us idea of making the balloons floats by inflating with helium gas.
The bicycle ride was NiangZi’s idea when we first visit the park. In the end we managed to get the bicycle and helium gas tank on the day before ROM. This sound like amazing race for me. It turn out of me amazing ROM.
The bicycle’s number plate was last minute work from BS. We enjoyed the whole ride completely from the bicycle’s decoration, balloons, cans, poppers to the music.
Acknowledgement
We would like to express our appreciation to the following all our helpers and friends who have contributed significantly to our amazing ROM.
Kok Pin & Tsuey Mei, Eddy Boon Soon,
Christina Tea, Janice, Mei Hui, Wendy, Huey Jen, Liang and to all the guest, thank you for your time and patient. We really appreciated

Singapore Petrol Price History
Jul 24th
Good News to all Singapore Drivers!!! Petrol price have reduced 2 times in a week ![]()
Lastest update Nov 21 : The petrol price have reduce to the price level of 2004.
I was trying to do research last night to find out the past history of petrol price in Singapore. I was not able to find the exact information I need from the internet. I do find the Crude Oil price chart which is on the right side bar. But I’m not able to obtain the history chart for Singapore petrol pump price.
I come across a interesting website petrol watch which monitor the change of pump price of all 4 brand of Singapore Petrol station. Caltex, Shell, Exxon Mobil and SPC. But without the trend chart for the petrol price. As a results I have to extracted all the update from the website to excel and plot the chart I want. I’m generous enough to share my hard work to anyone who may find this useful.

Complaint Letter to Maybank Singapore – Bad Customer Service
Jun 24th
Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 4:14 PM

Mailing Address : -NA-
Are you a Maybank Customer in Singapore ? Yes
————————————————————————
—————————-
Details of Enquiry/Feedback:
I have a very bad service by Maybank Homeloan representative of North Bridge Branch. Overall the experience I get is slow respond, did not follow up inquiry, did not call back as promised at least 5 occurrences. It’s very hard to get her answer the mobile phone.
1. We have signed the offer letter on May 8, but my lawyer complaint to me that Maybank only send to them 3 weeks later. I’m not sure if this is due to typical Maybank processing time or late submission by the person in charge.
2. There mix up in the application for the credit card for myself and my partner. My instruction is clear that I will apply for Subaru Card and give supplementary card to my partner. And my partner apply for the family and friends and give supplementary card to me. The end results I received Subaru card without supplementary card. And Platinum card for myself and supplementary card for my partner. The Family and Friends card was rejected.
I requested her to address all my concern last week and ask for the commitment to address all my concern by this week. I did not get any follow up from her
3. The joint service account for the home loan. I follow up with her last week after I personally check with the branch’s office. To my surprise that the officer check the record and told me there is no joint account application at all. On the day we signed the offer letter May 8. We filled in the application form and pass the $10 for opening the joint account. I have entrusted her to handle the account opening money but yet she did not bother to follow up and give any update to me.
To me the overall service does not even meet the minimum requirement for a call center operator.
Yesterday we try to give her another chance to call her to find out the update. To my surprise the voice mail mention she will be away until next sunday. This is total unacceptable, if she ever plan to away for 1 week. Why don’t she informed me earlier?
I need the above 3 items to be address immediately. I do not see any reason any bank not able to get this correctly after 6 weeks.
I need who ever replace Pamela Loh to contact my directly and explain why things goes wrong and what action have taken to address my concern.

- New Petrol price in Malaysia by tonight -
The price of petrol will rise by 78 sen by tonight, from the present RM1.92 per litre to RM2.70.
The move, announced by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad, is one of the government measures to cut the rising subsidy bill for petrol, diesel and gas, which is expected to cost RM56 billion this year.
To offset the higher fuel price, the government will offer rebates to motorists.
Under the scheme, vehicles below 2,000cc will receive a RM625 rebate annually to compensate for 800 litres of fuel used under the new price.
Motorcycles will be given a rebate of RM120. The money will be paid through postal orders.

SINGAPOREAN drivers seeking to buy petrol across the Causeway in Johor Baru will be spared from Malaysia’s new ban on the sale of petrol to foreigners - for one week.
This is not a reverse in the decision but the MP of Johor Bahru also the minister who plan for the fuel sell ban on foreign registered cars. Now he said the target is on the Thai registered vehicles and will monitor for a week in the northern state. The action is to limit the fuel subsidy to only benefit locals. However this rule ignore the fact that may local malaysia own foreign registered vehicle s still deserve the fuel subsidy.
I believe this is the reaction of the people’s strong protest. His minster should ask for the feedback before implement this kind of bias solution

Petrol rule reprieve
Source : Today Online
SINGAPOREAN drivers seeking to buy petrol across the Causeway in Johor Baru will be spared from Malaysia’s new ban on the sale of petrol to foreigners – for one week.
This is because the Malaysian government wants to monitor the effectiveness of the ban, which starts on Monday in the northern Malaysian states, before implementing it in Johor Baru on June 9.
But for another group — foreign motorcyclists :— there is no cause for concern
Malaysia ban petrol sales to foreign cars from 5/30
May 28th
Malaysia take the extreme measure to ban petrol selling to foreign cars within 50km of the border. This is shocking new as to me. The ruling will take effect this Friday and the ban does not taking into the consideration of driver’s nationality. The rule to control the petrol subsidy should not affect any Malaysian at all. I believe there are many more Malaysian like me driving Singapore Registered Car. This ruling means I’ll not able to get petrol supply with 50km after I leave Singapore.
For the simply reason of not benefit subsidy to the foreigners shall base on the nationality and not the vehicle registered country. This is rather inflexible and unfair treatment.
Please remember those Malaysian drive Singapore car like myself do come back to vote in the election. And we are the one who decide who rule this country. Now all the border states except Perlis and Johor are under People Alliance. I wonder what is the intention
