Philips’ Eco HDTV won the best of CES show

Philips' Eco TV sips power, saves rainforest

Philips’ Eco TV sips power, saves rainforest

CNET have awarded the Best in Show Award to Philips TV

At CNET, we take HDTV power consumption seriously, which helps explain our excitement when Philips announced its Eco TV. The 42-inch, 1080p resolution, flat-panel LCD, model 42PFL5603D (due in March, $1,399 MSRP), is packed with power-saving features. Chief among them is the ability to dim the backlight–by up to five times peak brightness–in response to program material, much like the “local dimming” found on Samsung’s LED-based LN-T4681F. Dimming the backlight in darker scenes has the dual benefit of saving power and improving black-level performance, according to the company.

This TV definitely looks nice in the living room. But I’m doubt how this is going to save the rain forest when you need to first replace the old TV set in the living room.

the Nokia 6230i phone shares the same classic design as the
popular Nokia 6230, but we've revved up the features inside.

Looking Good: We upgraded the camera

gives you true versatility with Bluetooth technology, infrared,
Pop-Port™, USB (supporting plug-and-play), and GPRS/EDGE networks.
