Another big disappointment after the new year.
I just noticed advertlets.com is down due to domain name renewal issue
The whois record show the expire on 4th Jan 2008

This is some thing not acceptable for the advertisement network based on internet. The domain name is the fundamental asset for running online business.
This is a big mistake for getting domain name expired.
The impact is all the website or blog running Advertlets ads unit will redirected to a domain registry parking site. This is really ugly. And effective bring down all the publisher’s website or blog.
This took me a while to remove advertlets from my blog and the reseller site.
Looks like I need to start another round of search for the better advertisement network.

I have find a better Blog Advertisement Network thru forum and fellow bloggers who have shared about this Avert Network for Malaysian and Singaporean bloggers.
To enroll to Advertlets is pretty easy as all you need is the website URLs and email to confirm the registration email. Advertlets GUI is easy to follow and navigate to the code page is straight forward. The sample placement of the blog is useful for the beginner is mix and match the different size in the blog. All in all it just took me 15 minutes to see the results of my ads.
I have placed a banner in the blog’s header and another vertical ads in the left side bar. I love the AJAX technology use in the ads unit as the reader can participate the poll or interact with the ads without leaving my own page.
I agreed with higher precision of location base advertisement can be achieved by applying the geolocation of the IP address. I’ll wonder whether this geolocation will work perfectly behind the proxy server. Let’s observe this after I connect to office network tomorrow.
What I would like to see in Advertlets is the reporting function and enhancement of statistic to allow more analysis as to drill down to which blog is performing better.
Nevertheless the overall I’m very happy with this alternative to AdSense. As a results all the google ads unit have been removed.
