Retention
I have a staff decided to resign last week due to the performance and job prospect.
I believe this is a reliazation after I give him a honest feedback on his pass performance. He was hired by my previous senoir manager. At that time there is a project that I want to keep a distant. My manager hired he and managed by himself. I was not really care for him in the past untill. My manager was asked to leave the company. My general manager assign him to report to me.
It was hard to integrate him to the team, as his always hold the past experience and his pride. He get hit a lot of walls when ask for support from my existing team. All this while I have a very capable technical lead which play the leader role in technical development. There is very little chance for him to take a lead.
I had a good talk with him after his resignation. He used to have a lot of excuses in getting the jobs done. I have very dispointed in his work which is delay after keep moving the target completion date backward. The worse is that I notice he did sleep during the working hour. I have colleage told me and I witnessed it 2 times in a week.
It is good for both company and him. I have no intention to stop him in persuit what he want.
I am in pressure to get good replacement soon for the project ahead. Anyway, I always think we will get thru this project eventually.
