What’s the difference between a nerd, a geek, and a dork?
0Official definitions for nerd, geek, and dork each use the words “inept” and “foolish.” Nerds have the added distinction of being “unattractive.” Ouch. While it’s hard to argue with the dictionary, we sought out definitions from the Internet at large.
According to Whatis.com, nerds are people of above-average intelligence who place little importance on their appearance. Nerds are often aware of their status, but they don’t mind. In fact, many take pride in the putdown, as it means they’re smart and not wrapped up in superficial worries.
Geek is a more specific term. Back in the day, geeks worked at carnivals, and (according to the dictionary) “bit the heads off live chickens.” Thankfully, the term now has a different connotation. Like nerds, geeks are smart, but they tend to focus more on technology. As Urban Dictionary explains, these are the people you make fun of in high school and later work for as an adult.
Being called a “dork” is the biggest insult of the three. There’s no way you can spin it into something positive. After all, even the dictionary writes that dorks are “stupid” people. And to make matters worse, dorks assume they’re cool. Oh, and they smell, too.
So, to sum things up, if someone calls you a geek or a nerd, thank them. If someone calls you a dork, consider going back to school and investing in some new deodorant.

Project Leadership Change
0Wow.. another impressive project delivered by my team.
We have completed the last leg of MES implementation in new plant.
This project started back in Feb this year which launched by Corporate VP. With ERP and MES project run in parallel. In the course 6 months we have experienced local IT senior management change, local ERP lead change, ERP project manager change, and now another change in corporate senior management.
However what’s fortune is that the working level still continue to work towards the original goal and delivered as plan.
For local MES, we have completed several interface integration that have not planed since the project start. We received complaint from Customer of being slow and weak in IT. This did not disturb me as. I declared the new plan and delivered it on time.
The main contributing factor of successful project include a very corperative user champion who agree to proceed with production on Monday but fine tuning of the last minute requirement continue in parallel.
Tomorrow is the day we declared to whole world that new plant is ready for business.
But I have a meeting with corporate VP in the morning for briefing of corporate IT management changes. I’m not sure if this related to the outcome of the project or not..
Benefit of Negative Ionizer
0I have attend the talk of negative ionizer by bwL 2 weeks ago, and start to experience the amazing ionizer which produce upto millions of cluster negative ions. Personal time and recognization
0I just announce a senior staff resignition this morning to handful of staff.
This is very sad thing but I handled with clear plan and confident to my team. A later proceed attend to the need of another factory.
He is the longest serving stuff of my support team. The reason is not only for the better offer. It’s his believe that the new job will provide him with more personal time and better recognization.
Not one can promise that him will have more time after he accept the counter offered with higher position then the new job can offer.
Anyway everyone make their own choice. It’s not me or company’s interest to keep a personal no longer committed to what he used to doing for the past 10 years.
